Mayo town gets some good news on its 75-bed hospital project

It is intended to commence the process for the procurement of a design team for the new 75-bed project at Ballina District Hospital over the coming months.

The news has been relayed to Councillor Michael Loftus, a member of the HSE West Forum, by Joe Hoare, assistant national director, HSE Capital & Estates.

Mr. Hoare outlined: "This will be done via the establishment of new design team frameworks for the region.

"It is hoped to have the design team procurement process completed in the first quarter of 2025.

"It will then take a number of years to progress the scheme through the statutory approvals, design, tender, construction and equipping phases."
