Ten minute parking proposal at central Mayo county town location

THE availability of 10 minute parking on the Mall and Spencer Street in Castlebar would assist people going to the motor tax office and local businesses.

The suggestion was made by Councillor Al McDonnell at a municipal district meeting, who commented on the distance people have to walk to conduct their business.

He said he ran the idea of having two 10-minute spots at both locations by a number of businesses and they would be happy with it.

Castle Street car park, he continued, needs an additional loading bay at the Danolla's end to facilitate deliveries to businesses on the street.

Municipal head David Mellett said both requests will be reviewed.
