Mayo golfers seeing double at Ballinrobe Golf Club

Tolster's Golf Society continued their long association with the always excellently presented Ballinrobe Golf Club this summer with a pair of outings thanks to sponsors Murray Ambulances (James Murray) and Théa Pharma (Diarmuid Gavin) in tough conditions on both days.

Dark clouds gave way to craic agus ceol back in Tolster's Bar, Castlebar, where players were revived with the best of hospitality by Gerry Tolster and his team.

Noel Brody brought home the bacon in the June outing, with only four points separating the top five players, including Frank McHale, David Brody, Paul O’Shea and Joe Cuddy. The visitors' prize was taken by Ciaran Tolster.

At the August outing, Sean Mangan eyed the prize (his second win of the season), closely followed by Fish Cunningham and Donal Coleman in the top three. Paul O’Shea and Joe Cuddy again held on to fourth and fifth place. Diarmuid Sheridan claimed the visitors' prize on this occasion.

Tolster's Golf Society travel to Ballyhaunis Golf Club today (Thursday) for the next outing. It will be followed by a meal and the presentation of prizes plus a raffle at Tolster's Bar.

This outing will be the final event for the annual Player of the Year award (sponsored by Austin Quinn), with a number of players in the mix for the race to Spencer Street.

A fun scramble will complete the season at Castlebar Golf Club on Thursday, October 24. In addition, a fundraising table quiz night will be held in Tolster’s Bar on Thursday, October 10, in aid of society member Cliff Liverpool (with proceeds going towards Cliff's Journey). Golfers and non-golfers alike are welcome to contribute to this worthwhile cause.

Tolster's Golf Society is always open to visitors and new members. Should you wish to join the or play as a guest in any of the outings this year, simply enquire at Tolster's Bar on Spencer Street in Castlebar or via email to tolstersgolfsociety@gmail.com.
