Upgrade for south Mayo town's wastewater treatment plant

UISCE Éireann plans to upgrade the existing Claremorris wastewater treatment plant have received council approval.

The plant is located at Coolroe, Loughanboy.

The project consists of upgrades to the plant to provide an increased treatment capacity at the site to cater for the predicted growth in the agglomeration over the next 10 years, with some elements being designed for a 25-year design load.

Upgrades are required to ensure compliance with environmental and water regulations for the current Claremorris agglomeration as well as providing an increased treatment capacity to cater for future growth.

The development will increase the design capacity from 5,333PE to 8,000PE, with some elements being designed for 25-year design capacity of 8,800PE.
