Celebrations as Errew Community Centre is officially opened

THERE were great celebrations in central Mayo yesterday evening with the official opening of Errew Community Centre.

The centre is based in the former Errew Girls’ National School, which has been fully renovated and restored for community use.

The project received investment under the Community Centre Investment Fund, matched by a local fundraising drive, with support also from national and local public representatives who joined the local community for the opening celebrations.

Minister of State Alan Dillon cuts the ribbon to declare the centre officially open.

Minister of State Alan Dillon performed the official opening and paid tribute to Errew Community Committee, saying it had been a pleasure to work with them to see the dream of restoring this 'gem' back to life.

“A truly fantastic community with a great spirit of volunteering,” he said.

Senator Lisa Chambers also commented on the wonderful work that had been done to bring the old school building back to life at a very high standard.

She paid tribute to the committee and community for their hard work and commitment in delivering a fantastic project.

Errew Community CLG has expressed appreciation to everyone who supported this venture, giving the building a new lease of life.
