Civic reception proposed for Ring in home town

MICHAEL Ring is to be honoured in his home town with a civic reception.

It will be hosted in the coming months by the Westport-Belmullet Municipal District to recognise his 45 years of service as a politician.

At the monthly municipal district meeting, Councillor Peter Flynn proposed a reception be held in early 2025, a suggestion seconded by fellow Westport Councillor Brendan Mulroy.

Councillor Johnny O'Malley (Ind.) paid tribute to Deputy Ring for his hard work over the years for the town, county and country.

Cathaoirleach Councillor Sean Carey said it would be fitting, noting Deputy Ring's footprint on so many projects, community and others large scale, like the Wild Atlantic Way, of which he was the driving force and which has been a huge success.
