Fáinne Óir making welcome return to Mayo

THE enchanting music of Fáinne Óir, a Famine story created by Mayo composer and musical director Kathy Fahey, is returning to the county for one night only.

It will be performed by Mayo Concert Orchestra, under the tutelage of Ms. Fahey, at Christ Church, Castlebar, on Friday night, October 18, at 8 p.m.

A limited number of tickets are on sale on eventbrite.

The concert, which played to a full house at Symphony Space Theatre on Broadway, New York, in September 2019, will also feature guest musician Diarmaid Moynihan.

The production is based around the life of a young Mayo girl, Saoirse, who was forced to emigrate to America and how her life got better and better in the city of New York.

The audience is taken on a very emotional journey as Saoirse, her family and friends face the challenges of the most traumatic period of Irish social history, the music capturing every twist and turn along the way.

While this show is being performed without dancers or singers, the exhilarating flow of music from Mayo Concert Orchestra makes it an unmissable experience under candlelight.
