Works near completion on jetty at popular Mayo lake

WORKS are nearing completion on the redeveloped jetty at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar.

New steps were installed at the site yesterday.

Councillor Ger Deere had proposed last year that the old diving board area would be redeveloped into a jetty and that a designated area be marked out for safe swimming.

Funding was secured earlier this year under the Community Recognition Fund which has allowed these works to take place.

Said Councillor Deere about the project: “When fully completed, it will be another wonderful addition to Lough Lannagh.”
