Funeral of man who lost his life in Mayo road tragedy

The funeral arrangements have been announced for the man who was killed on October 1 after being struck by a vehicle while walking on the N60 near Manulla, Castlebar.

Nikolaj Litvinov (45), McHale Road, Castlebar, was pronounced dead at the scene following the late night impact.

Nikolaj will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar on Monday next, October 14, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Removal from Coady’s Funeral Home on Tuesday morning at 10.30 a.m for private cremation ceremony in Lakeland Crematorium, Cavan.

Burial will take place in Lithuania at a later date, where Nikolaj’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside his late mother.

The deceased’s older sister, Anzelika, has set up a fundraising campaign to help pay for the funeral expenses.

Her GoFundMe message reads: “I am currently raising funds to help with his funeral as it was so sudden, I was not prepared to lose him so soon.

“Being his only family member in the country and having to help raise these funds, I’m asking for any type of donations big or small we would really appreciate it.

“Thank you everyone is advance for your kind donations.”

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are also seeking any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the incident to provide it to investigating gardaí.
