Mayo school walk to send out SOS (Save Our School)

A MAYO school is shining a spotlight on its campaign to develop a new school building, which have been stalled by the Department of Education.

Holy Trinity National School in Westport secured the former Scoil Padraig site on Altamount and was progressing its plans for a new school. That was until the Department of Education offered use of the site to the local Sacred Heart Secondary School for temporary accommodation.

Next Friday, October 18, the school community will walk in friendship to their new school site at Altamount Street, urging the local community to stand with them and save their school.

The walk will commence at 1.30 p.m. on Friday, meeting at the Octagon.

Holy Trinity NS has had a 15-year battle to get a new school after their existing building was deemed ‘not fit for purpose’ by the department.
