Connacht interprovincial squad peppered with Mayo players

The four squads have been announced for this weekend’s Allianz GAA Football InterProvincial Series at Croke Park – and the Connacht group is peppered with Mayo players.

Led by Aidan O'Shea, the squad also features Eoghan McLaughlin, Jack Carney, Bob Tuohy Diarmuid Duffy and Fergal Boland, with Paul Towey on standby.

The squad features players from all teams who play in the Connacht championship, including London and New York.

Elsehwere, the Leinster squad is led by Dublin’s nine-time All-Ireland-winning history-makers James McCarthy and Stephen Cluxton, with 11 counties represented overall.

Armagh’s All-Ireland winners have a strong presence in the Ulster ranks and are led by Paddy Burns, Oisín Conaty, Aidan Forker, and Rian and Oisín O’Neill.

Kerry’s experienced duo Tadhg Morley and Diarmuid O’Connor headline the Munster squad.

Friday night will see Connacht face Leinster at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting of Ulster and Munster at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the opening match sees the two beaten teams from Friday night meeting at 5.30 p.m. followed by the clash of the two Friday night winners at 7.30 p.m.

The backdrop to the event is the trialling of the seven core enhancements put forward by the Football Review Committee and the subject of a special congress at the end of November.

Tickets are available from GAA.ie. Friday night’s games will be shown live on TG4 and Saturday’s games will be shown live on RTÉ.
