East Mayo bus passengers stranded when missing connection due to delays

PASSENGERS returning to east Mayo from Galway are being left high and dry in Claremorris when missing bus connections.

If the Galway bus is late, they are getting left behind, with the connecting bus from Claremorris to Kiltimagh and Swinford having already departed.

Local Councillor Adrian Forkan highlighted the plight of a patient receiving treatment in Galway who last week found the bus had left Claremorris when they got there after the Galway bus was delayed.

This person was left, with no way to Kiltimagh, said Councillor Forkan, who added that he has received at least eight calls about the issue.

Speaking at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council, he described the situation as 'scandalous' and said it has to be dealt with.
