Extension approved for north Mayo school

THE announcement from the Department of Education that Scoil Bhreadain NS, Aughleam, Belmullet, has been granted approval to proceed to tender for an extension has been welcomed.

The school is to get two additional classrooms under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme.

Said Minister of State Alan Dillon: “This is fantastic news for Scoil Bhreadain NS and their wider community. It will provide much-needed facilities for the current students and staff.

“I want to wish principal Ferdia O Mongain, his staff, pupils and board of management the very best with this project in the months ahead.”

Also welcoming the progress, Deputy Michael Ring commented: “Two extra mainstream classrooms will be a very welcome addition and will greatly enhance the capacity of the school, which already has over 50 pupils enrolled. I am sure that the teachers and students will benefit from the additional accommodation being provided.”
