Mayo GAA 'discussing prospect of county final postponement'

Mayo GAA is discussing the prospect of its senior club football championship final between Ballina Stephenites and Knockmore being postponed on Sunday due to Storm Ashley.

An orange wind warning has been issued for the county from 10 a.m. on Sunday and the storm is expected to reach its peak in the afternoon when the decider at Hastings Insurance McHale Park is due to be played from 2.30 p.m.

The Connaught Telegraph has learned that officers of the county board are assessing the situation and will make an announcement on the fixture proceeding or otherwise by 12 noon on Saturday.
