Orange wind warning issued for Mayo ahead of Storm Ashley

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange wind warning for Galway and Mayo this Sunday as Storm Ashley hits Ireland.

The storm will bring very strong and gusty southerly winds, coupled with high spring tides.

The orange warning for the two counties comes into effect at midday and will be in force until 9 p.m. Sunday.

A Status Yellow wind warning will also run alongside it, in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday until 12 a.m. Monday.

Impacts of Storm Ashley include coastal flooding, large coastal waves, loose objects displaced, fallen trees, very difficult travelling conditions, with dangerous conditions at sea, damage to power lines and power outages, as well as damage to already weakened structures.
