Westport Women on Wheels make donations to two Mayo charities

Westport Women on Wheels (WOW) have make cheque presentations from monies raised from their Mizen to Malin charity cycle.

The group raised a phenomenal €54,230 in total for the two charities, who were extremely grateful for the funds raised.

Seamus Moran from the board of Mayo Roscommon Hospice accepted a cheque for €31,115.

Caroline Barry, chairperson, and Loretta Brosnan centre director, of Mayo Rape Crisis, accepted a cheque for €23,115.

Loretta Brosnan thanked the group on behalf of Mayo Rape Crisis, particularly for the awareness that the cycle had raised for their charity which provides vital services for victims of sexual violence in Mayo.

Speaking about the Hospice services, Seamus Moran outlined that since its inception from an idea in 1994, there are now two dedicated Hospice units providing palliative care and all funds raised go to enhancing the foundation services which touch the lives of so many throughout Mayo and Roscommon.

The WOW group thanked everyone who donated and to the many local business’ who supported them in their endeavour, in particular Portwest, Castlecourt Hotel, Major Equipment, EFS , ShareRidge, Kennedy Travel, The Helm, Treacy's Pharmacy, ATU Sligo, Kvalito, and a generous anonymous donor.
