Status Yellow rainfall warning issued for county Mayo

After battling Storm Ashley last weekend, the county is expected to face further challenging weather conditions this week, as Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Rainfall Warning.

The warning will be in effect from Thursday, October 24 at 3 p.m., lasting until Friday, October 25 at 3 a.m.

According to the warning, residents should brace for periods of heavy rain, which may lead to some localised flooding. The downpours are expected to result in difficult travelling conditions, particularly on roads prone to flooding.

Met Eireann forecast the showers to be heaviest along the west coast of Mayo, then travelling further west.

Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution during this period, as reduced visibility and slippery surfaces could pose additional risks.

Mayo County Council advise keeping updated on weather forecasts and to avoid any unnecessary journeys during the warning period.

Stay tuned to Met Éireann's updates for the latest weather developments, and make sure to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
