Mayo county town mourns passing of 'lovely lady' Maureen Flynn

The death has taken place of Maureen Flynn (née Lyons), St. Bridget’s Crescent, Castlebar, and late of Kilmacrade, Breaffy.

She died peacefully yesterday in the care of the staff of Cuan Chaitríona Nursing Home, Castlebar, surrounded by her loving family.

A much-loved and affable woman, she is deeply regretted by her heartbroken family: daughters Bernie Lydon (Ballintubber), Tish Walshe (Castlebar) and Delia Ruane (Castlebar), sons Tadgh (Breaffy), Sean (Castlebar) and Wally (Castlebar), brothers Timmy (Breaffy) and Tom (Manulla), sister-in-law Maura (Manulla), brother-in-law Patsy (Roughneen, Balla), sons-in-law Con, Louie and Pat, daughters-in-law Carmel and Sharon, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is extended.

Maureen was predeceased by her husband Sean, parents Tim and Della Lyons, sisters Nellie and Bridie, brother-in-law Joe Mc Niochlas, sister-in-law Marian and daughter-in-law Bríd.

Many warm tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media.

One stated: "She was such a lovely lady and always a pleasure to meet."

Another said: "She was a wonderful lady, great memories, always so kind and loyal."

Maureen will repose at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Friday at 6 p.m. with removal at 7.30 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Requiem Mass takes place on Saturday at 1 p.m. with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
