Passing of retired Mayo psychiatric nurse Paddy Devaney

The death of Paddy (Patrick) Devaney, Turlough Road, and formerly of Crillaune, Ross, Castlebar, is widely mourned in the community.

A retired psychiatric nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, Castlebar, he died peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Mayo Hospice, having previously been lovingly cared for by the staff of Mayo University Hospital.

Paddy will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Mary and adoring daughters Ann Marie, Trish and Olivia.

He is also survived by his sons-in-law Joe, Leo and Damien, his much cherished grandchildren Aoibhín, Shane, Aaron, Freya, Reina, Lynden, Emmie, Euan and Gillian, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Paddy was predeceased by his son Jarlath, parents Mary Kate and Pat and siblings Mick and Mary.

Tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media where he was described as 'a true gentleman' and 'a great neighbour.'

Remains will repose in Coady's Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Sunday from 6.30 p.m. with removal at 8 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. on Monday.

Paddy will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery.
