Mayo and Galway league sides set for double-header clash at Umbro Park

The county’s soccer fans are in for a treat on Sunday as the Mayo League faces off against the Galway League in an exciting double-header at Umbro Park, Milebush.

Both leagues will be looking to get one over their near neighbours, with key matchups in both the U18 and senior categories that are sure to provide entertainment for supporters.

The action kicks off at 12 p.m., when Chris McGauley's Mayo U18 team begins their campaign against the Galway League in the first of a two-leg series. This opener is crucial for McGauley’s squad, as they look to make a strong start against a strong Tribesmen outfit.

Following this, at 2 p.m., Joe Kelly’s Mayo Oscar Traynor Squad will take to the field for their second of three games in the Connaught Section, facing off against a tough Galway League side.

The Mayo team enters the match on a high note after an impressive 4-1 victory over the Sligo/Leitrim League last month, where standout performances came from Jordan Loftus, who scored twice, alongside goals from Jason Hunt and Jack O'Connor.

Galway will also be bringing their momentum into Sunday’s fixture. In their previous game, Galway clinched a 2-0 victory over the Roscommon League, with Padraic Cunningham securing both goals.
