Big homecoming celebration planned for east Mayo boxer

A big homecoming celebration has been planned for Ballyhaunis Boxing Club's Carlagh Peake after her exploits over recent days in Montenegro.

Carlagh, a former student at Ballyhaunis Community School, claimed a silver medal at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships – a momentous achievement.

The homecoming celebration will take place in Ballyhaunis Square at 4.30 p.m. this afternoon (Tuesday), and all are welcome to attend.

Later this afternoon, at 6 p.m., Westport boxer Nell McLaughlin, a member of Eagle Boxing Club, will similarly be given a hero's welcome as she returns to Mayo.

The event for Nell will be held at Westport Town Hall Theatre, the Octagon, and again all are welcome.
