Former Mayo footballer on League of Ireland Player of the Year shortlist

FORMER Mayo-based footballer Roisin Molloy has been nominated for the Women's League of Ireland Player of the Year award.

She was a key member of the Athlone Town team that were crowned SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division champions for the first time this year.

Roisin's remarkable season across midfield and also a strong showing in forward positions saw her pick up the Premier Division Player of the Month award for October.

Roisin joined Athlone in 2021 having played with Kiltimagh Knock United for two seasons at Under 19 level and also featuring in the club's senior women's side.

Before that she was with Sligo Rovers Under 17s for two years and also lined out with Castlebar Celtic and Gurteen prior to that move.

Winners will be announced on December 3.
