Minister enjoys great discussion with pupils in Mayo school after sixth class invitation

MINISTER of State Alan Dillon found himself back in school this week.

He popped by Bohola National School having received an invite from a sixth class pupil in recent weeks to meet with her class.

In a beautiful, hand-written letter, 11-year-old Caoimhe told Alan about her hobbies, including soccer, Gaelic and swimming, and asked if he had any spare time to pop by, share some drills and have a chat about Mayo football.

There was also another special request - to ask their teacher for a night off homework.

The minister followed up on his reply to organise a date for a visit, and to discuss the homework situation, and visited the school this week.

And it looks like there may be some future contenders for Dáil Éireann in Bohola as the minister shared on his social media: “I was delighted to call in for a brief visit between meetings. We had a great discussion, with really insightful questions, ranging from my football career to how I got involved in politics and everything in between.

“I’m sure there’s some future politicians in Bohola NS.”

The homework negotiations also proved successful: “I’m also delighted to confirm that I managed to convince Mrs. Glynn to give them the night off homework!”
