Mayo’s Conor Walsh earns spot in Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad

By Caoimhín Rowland

Westport native Conor Walsh has been selected for Jim Crawford’s Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper, who is currently contracted to Sligo Rovers, has previously represented Ireland at Under-15 to Under-19 levels.

However, this is his first call-up to the highly competitive Under-21 team.

Last season, Walsh honed his skills with loan spells at Wexford F.C. and Finn Harps, gaining valuable match experience away from the Showgrounds.

His selection places him alongside some of the brightest young talents in Irish football, including Udinese defender James Abankwah, Watford midfielder Rocco Vata, and AS Roma rising star Kevin Zefi.

The Under-21 squad is set to travel to Spain next week for two friendly matches, giving Walsh and his teammates a prime opportunity to present their talents on an international stage.
