Over €1.6m. secured for Mayo sports projects following appeals

Seven Mayo sports projects have been granted funding of €1,627,480 following their successful appeals under the Community Sports Facilities Funding, Mayo Minister of State, Alan Dillon, has confirmed.

Minister Dillon said: “I was delighted to receive confirmation that the seven clubs lodged successful appeals and will now be able to progress to the development or upgrade works of their much-needed facilities.”

The following were the successful appeals:

St. Gerald’s College, Castlebar - Astro Turf - €158,000

Westport United FC - €378,480

Ballina Stephenites GAA Club - €475,000

Ballina Town FC - €63,000

Bohola Community Park - €445,000

Swinford Golf Club - €68,000

Tullaghan Rowing Club - €40,000

Minister Dillon said: “It’s fantastic to see these clubs receive well-deserved funding to continue supporting sport in our communities.

"Each and every one of these grants represents a project that will create a new or improved opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in sport to the best of their ability.”
