Mayo town continues its poster-free tradition for general election

WESTPORT'S long tradition of being a poster-free town will continue for this month's general election.

An appeal has issued to all candidates to respect this tradition.

Westport Tidy Towns has issued the following appeal: 'In solidarity with many towns and villages around our county and country, Westport Tidy Towns is respectfully appealing to all candidates in the upcoming General Election to refrain from putting up election posters within the 50k limits of Westport.

'Westport, as you may know, was named Ireland’s Tidiest Large Town.

'Westport has for many years been poster-free and we would like to continue with this for the upcoming election.

'We wish all candidates the very best of luck.'
