Teachers 'get things done in Mayo every day' - Calleary

Mayo TD Dara Calleary has defended teachers from remarks made by Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary at a Fine Gael launch at the weekend.

He stated: “Teachers make things happen every minute of every day in their classrooms and in their communities.

"They shape our children into great citizens, they multi-task every minute of their day to do this, they work under pressure-they get things done every day.

"Teachers bring these skills to their communities. They are the backbone of many community activities across Mayo.

"They lead sporting activities, community activities, charitable activities in every community across Mayo.

"Teachers get things done every day, in the classroom, in the school and in their communities across Mayo.”
