Plans to reimagine Mayo centre dedicated to pirate queen

PLANS are being put together to reimagine the west Mayo centre dedicated to pirate queen Grace O'Malley.

Louisburgh Development Company have announced exciting plans to reimagine the existing Granuaile visitor and information centre, which is located on Church Street in the town.

The centre offers a unique interpretation of the legendary pirate queen's life and times, and visitors can also learn about the Great Famine at the museum.

As part of the development process, they are holding a community engagement event where people can come along and see the plans.

The community open evening will be held at the centre on Tuesday, November 19, from 5 to 8 p.m., where the proposals for the centre will be on display.
