Inclusive singing workshops are coming to the Linenhall.

Unleashing creativity at Mayo arts centre

OVER the coming weeks, the Linenhall Arts Centre presents a unique Mayo MakerSpace event each Saturday, bringing together technologists and artists for a series of hands-on workshops. Featuring tools like 3D printers, laser cutters and automation technology, the Mayo MakerSpace invites participants to explore their creativity by building anything.

Facilitator Hassan Dabbagh says: “Want to build a birdhouse, or maybe a birdhouse that doubles as a weather station? The only limit is your imagination.

“If you can dream it, we can help you build it. Some of the most innovative ideas happen when we are having fun.”

These workshops, designed to inspire imagination and collaboration, are open to adults, with each session costing €5. Reconnect with your creativity, bringing your ideas to life on Saturdays, November 16 through to December 14.

INCLUSIVE SINGING WORKSHOPS

Inclusive singing workshops, hosted each Saturday afternoon from November 16 to December 7, offer a fun, supportive environment for young people aged seven to 18, along with their accompanying adult.

Led by Catherine McGlinchey and Conor Hickey, children of all abilities are welcome to attend. There are no auditions or competition, just enjoyment and community singing.

Devised for children and young adults with additional needs or access requirements who benefit from a more supported, relaxed experience, the wheelchair accessible Linenhall Arts Centre is partnering with Music Generation Mayo for this initiative.

Supported by the UPSTART Award from Mayo County Council, a €10 ticket admits one young person plus their guardian to all four workshops.

HOW TO COLLABORATE

On Saturday, November 30, join composers/performers Patrick O'Laoghaire and Michael Gallen for a dynamic workshop, How to Collaborate.

Aimed at young adults (aged 15-21), this free event, a chance to explore collaboration in creative projects, draws inspiration from music, writing, spoken word and imagery.

Participants will work individually and collectively to develop ideas in a supportive, hands-on environment, with a discussion on the professional life of an artist.

Supported by EXCEL Youth Arts and Mayo Arts Office, attendees are encouraged to bring a piece of their own creative work, or an idea as a springboard for the day.

WHAT'S ON

Upcoming performances at the Linenhall also include: an alluring musical evening with the Far Flung Trio, Under Paris Skies, on November 13; a celebration of song with Galway Sings Choir on November 23; award-winning theatre with A Christmas Carol on November 26; and the west of Ireland’s only L.G.B.T.Q+ choir, SingOutWest, on November 30.
