Keogh appeals for more accessible parking at top Mayo hospital

Keira Keogh, Mayo Fine Gael election candidate, has called on the HSE to provide more accessible parking facilities at Mayo University Hospital for patients undergoing cancer treatment, the elderly and the infirm.

She elaborated: “The issue of parking at Mayo University Hospital has been raised with me on a number of occasions on the doorsteps during my canvass.

"In particular the distance of the car park from the entrance of Mayo University Hospital.

"Very sick and infirm people are attending this hospital on a daily basis and it is quite simply not feasible for them to make their way from the current car park due to its distance from the entrance of the hospital.

“I am calling on the HSE to open up the parking at the HSE buildings in close proximity to Mayo University Hospital to facilitate people who urgently require parking closer to the hospital.

"I am aware that there are spaces in this car park and I believe that some of these spaces should be opened up to people most in need”.

“This is an issue that I feel strongly about and I am hopeful that the HSE will do the right thing."
