Derek Walsh joins Mayo ladies football management team for 2025
Mayo ladies football manager Liam McHale has bolstered his backroom team for the 2025 season with the addition of Derek Walsh as a coach and selector.
Walsh, the former Mayo hurling manager, brings a wealth of experience, having led the county's hurlers to victory in the Nickey Rackard Cup in 2021 and to a Christy Ring Cup final the following year.
Walsh also has a strong footballing background, having recently managed the Ballyhaunis senior footballers and previously worked with the Mayo ladies team during their run to the All-Ireland final in 2017, where they fell short against Dublin.
Joining Walsh in McHale’s revamped team is Henry Gavin, the former Castlebar Mitchels and Mayo star, who takes on a role as a coach and advisor.
The backroom team also includes Michael Schlingermann, a former League of Ireland and Mayo minor goalkeeper, who will serve as goalkeeper coach and video analyst.
