Fourth annual Facefield 'Remember Me' run and walk in Mayo this Sunday

The fourth annual Facefield (Claremorris) 'Remember Me' 6K run and walk takes place this weekend.

The event is open to competitors of all abilities who wish to walk, jog or run the scenic route around the lake.

It is organised each year by the Facefield Community Group and once again proceeds are in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

The entry fee is €10, payable on the day from 1 p.m., while one can enter online by going on to the Eventbrite.ie website. The event headquarters is Facefield National School (F12 TX37).

The run/walk, setting off at 2 p.m., is just one part of the events on Sunday (November 24). There will be a wreath-laying ceremony and the switching-on of the Christmas lights by former Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

There certainly will be a festive atmosphere on the day, with a children's disco at 3.30 p.m., while Santa himself is expected to arrive around 4 p.m.
