Mayo mourns passing of 'wonderful lady' Nancy Conway

The death has taken place of Nancy Conway (née Barry), Derreenmauns, Castlebar, and formerly of Castle Street, Castlebar, and Cork city.

She died peacefully in her 98th year in the loving care of the staff at Cuan Chaitriona, Castlebar.

Her passing has evoked an immense sense of loss in the county town where her family ran a very popular public house at Castle Street for many years.

Many warm tributes are being paid to Nancy on social media where she is described as 'a wonderful lady.'

She is deeply regretted by her loving family: Brian (Cornanool), Mary Bourke (Frenchill), John (Australia), Kevin (Turlough), Michael (Kinsale) and Ann Boylan (Australia), grandchildren Barry, Katie, Neal, Ryan, Oisin, Fiona, Maeve, Aoife, Ruaíri, Grace and Michael, great granchildren Jake, Liam and Finn, sons-in-law, John Bourke and Dan Boylan, daughters- in-law, Agnes, Andrea, Mairead and Teresa, her long time carer and friend Amelyn, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Deepest sympathy is tendered to the bereaved family on their loss.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Michael, brother Kevin, sisters Maire, Maeve and Eileen.

Reposing at the Coady Funeral Home, Castlebar. on Friday evening from 5.30 until 7 p.m., followed by removal to her home.

Requiem Mass takes place on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar, with interment afterwards in Ballyheane Cemetery.
