Step into Medieval world at special Mayo Christmas concert
MICHAEL Quinn (organ) will perform a Christmas concert with a difference in the Holy Trinity Church, Westport, on Wednesday, December 11, at 8 p.m.
Step into the Medieval world with Louisburgh Voices, who will be performing carols and music for the Christmas season from Ireland, France, Spain, England, Germany and Italy, including music by Machaut and Hildegard von Bingen.
Vocal students from Louisburgh Music School will be singing some evocative performing medieval carols. The concert will also include festive instrumental music.
Louisburgh Voices is a mixed-voice adult choir, established by Pauline Graham, which has performed in Louisburgh, Ballintubber Abbey and featured earlier this year at the Mary Robinson Climate Conference in Ballina.
Their repertoire includes a wide range of music, from early and Baroque music to folk-song arrangements and contemporary music.
Tickets (€20 and €18) are available now from The Bookshop, Bridge Street, Westport, and Gala, Louisburgh.
