Mayo soccer club to launch senior women’s team for 2025 season

GLENHEST ROVERS have announced plans to establish a Senior Women’s Team to compete in the Mayo Women’s Football League for the 2025 season.

This marks a historic moment for the club as it gears up to field its first-ever women’s team.

The club has already begun discussions with the league and several players, laying the groundwork for what promises to be a milestone year.

Training sessions are set to begin in early 2025, and Glenhest Rovers are encouraging anyone interested in joining to step forward.

“We’re thrilled about the prospect of launching a Women’s Team and look forward to seeing the community come together to support this new chapter for Glenhest Rovers,” said a club spokesperson.

A spokesperson from the Mayo Women’s League stated that they are “delighted to see the continuing expansion of the league as the sport in this county and opportunities for women to play fortunately grows.”
