A flood of relief sweeps north Mayo town
Nine years to the day after floods devastated Crossmolina in north Mayo, the green light has been given for construction to start on a flood relief scheme in the town.
Councillor Michael Loftus announced he has been given confirmation that OPW machinery will be on site tomorrow (Thursday, December 5) to start works.
Crossmolina, Councillor Loftus' home town, was devastated by floodwaters on December 5, 2015, as the River Deel burst its banks during Storm Desmond.
The Fianna Fáil public representative said yesterday (Tuesday): “Minister Pascal Donohue signed the Ministerial Order to approve the scheme on the 3rd of September and that was three month ago today. No objections have been filed."
