Get ready for Christmas Magic at the Barracks in Mayo
GET ready for Christmas Magic at the Barracks, taking place in Castlebar this weekend.
The Old Mess Hall at the military barracks is being transformed from a training room, into a magical place where the whole family can immerse themselves in the magic of Christmas.
During this approximately 90 minutes experience, you will be transported by horse and carriage from the ticket kiosk in Castle Street car park to the barracks entrance. Once inside the building you will be greeted by the friendly elves and have the chance to enjoy a hot chocolate with your elf guide.
It’s full steam ahead then to the workshops to make decorations, decorating cookies and other crafts. Onwards then to get your professional memento photograph taken (included in the price) while also writing a short letter to Santa, before visiting Mrs. Claus for story-time and then meeting the Big Man himself, who has a gift for all attendees.
Along the way you will also find some carollers and a few other surprises.
Enjoy Christmas Magic at the Barracks on Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15, from 1 to 6 p.m. Tickets are now on sale here http://bit.ly/3AfW61c through Ticketmaster/Universe.com, and also through the Christmas Magic at the Barracks Facebook and Instagram pages.
As Castlebar is an autism friendly town, time slots will be available to facilitate any autistic children with light and sound sensitivities.
Time slots between 1 p.m. and 1.20 p.m. have been designated to autism friendly groups, but please contact the Facebook page admin with queries or questions regarding other suitable times and they will do their best to look after you.
First Choice Credit Union Castlebar is main sponsor of the event, with sponsorship too from Snap Printing, without whose help the event could not get off the ground.
This year, as well as supporting Castlebar Foróige, Castlebar Pantomime, Davitt College, Castlebar girls debs group, SGC 25 Group and the Castlebar branch of the Samaritans, this event will also donate to An Feileacain, a non-profit association that works closely with families who have been affected by the death of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth, providing essential support.
