Mayo hospital hit with overcrowding pressures ahead of Christmas
Up to 24 patients are left without beds at Mayo University Hospital today due to high presentation numbers.
Eight are on trolleys in the emergency department and a further 16 in wards elsewhere.
Nationally, 612 admitted patients are waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.
Of those, 429 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 183 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
