Mayo company extends sponsorship of West of Ireland Championship

County Sligo Golf Club has announced that Connolly Motor Group, headquartered in Mayo, will continue their sponsorship of the West of Ireland Championship for the next three years.

The West of Ireland has been held in Rosses Point, Sligo, every April since 1923. As one of the longest-running championships in Ireland, it has seen some of the country's greatest golfers claim the trophy, including major winners Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Padraig Harrington.

Connolly Motor Group – which was formed in Ballina 85 years ago and has since growth extend throughout the west and north-west – has been a dedicated sponsor of the event since 2022.

Their ongoing support is a valuable asset, helping to elevate the quality of the championship.

County Sligo Golf Club men’s captain Robert Fitzpatrick said: “We are delighted that Connolly Motor Group have agreed to continue their sponsorship for a further three years. To have a sponsor of the prestige and generosity of Connolly’s allow us to do so much for the players and volunteers. Their support of sport is well recognised and certainly appreciated by many.”
