A big festive thank you to Mayo social services
by Auld Stock
THERE are a lot of services provided by voluntary groups in this country which go unnoticed.
The meals on wheels service, under the guidance of Castlebar Social Services Council, provide an outstanding service.
Dinners are served to elderly people and those living alone a number of days each week at a very low charge.
Each Thursday a meal is served at the headquarters of the Social Services in Castle Street. Those who avail of this service are picked up at their homes and taken back later in the evening.
Friendships are renewed at the weekly dinners which are held in a happy atmosphere.
Those who deliver dinners to the homes of the elderly come from all walks and live in town and country.
The majority of them are retired people who brighten the lives of the elderly and put them in a happy mood.
There is a lot of good done by many people throughout our country on a voluntary basis. They are dedicated people and deserve our thanks and praise.
The people of this country can feel very proud of those people.
