Mayo clampdown on bins being left out on footpaths

A clampdown is underway in Mayo on businesses and residents leaving out refuse bins on urban footpaths on a prolonged basis.

Signs have been erected by Mayo County Council stating 'bins must not be placed on footpaths except on waste collection days'.

It follows a number of complaints by the public that they were causing health and safety issues for pedestrians as well as access problems for wheelchairs users and parents pushing prams.
