Passing of popular Mayo county town personality Bernie Roache
The death of Bernard (Bernie) Roache, 26 McHale Road, Castlebar, has evoked an immense sense of sorrow and loss in the community.
An affable and courteous personality, he was held in high regard by everybody who knew him.
He is deeply regretted by his loving family: sister-in- law Eileen Roache and her family Bernadette, Brian, Orla, Adrian and Mark, brother-in-law Michael Duffy, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.
Bernie was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Ellen, brothers Mick, Frank and Ollie, and sisters Bridie Shannon, Ann Duffy and Nell Ludden.
Fond tributes are being paid to him on social media.
One said: "Such a lovely, affable individual and his stories of old would entertain you for hours."
"Bernie was a wonderful neighbour and an absolute gentleman," another stated.
"One of life's gentlemen," a further tribute observed.
Remains reposing at his home, 26 McHale Road, on Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m.
Removal from his home on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, via Spencer Street, for Requiem Mass at 11:30 a.m.
Interment takes place afterwards in the Old Cemetery.
