Mayo man tipped to captain Lions during summer tour of Australia
Mayo rugby star Caelan Doris is being widely tipped to captain the Lions on their tour to Australia next summer.
If that proves to be the case, it will be the first time a player from the county achieved such a proud sporting distinction.
Doris, a native of Lacken, is the captain of the Irish team as it prepares for the forthcoming Guinness Six Nations which begins in the Avivia Stadium, Dublin, against England on Saturday, February 1 (4.45 p.m.).
The Lions face three tests against Australia in Brisbane (July 19), Melbourne (July 26) and Sydney (August 2).
National political commentators believe Doris is in line to skipper the touring party.
