Mayo community mourns passing of 'lovely, gentle lady' Teresa Vahey

The death of Teresa Vahey (née O'Brien), Castle Street, Castlebar, and late of Graffymore, Castlebar, has evoked a tremendous sense of loss in the community.

Fond tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media since news of her passing was announced.

She has been widely described as 'as lovely, gentle lady who was always a pleasure to meet'.

Predeceased by her parents, brothers, sisters, husband Michael and daughter Michelle, she id deeply regretted by her son Jimmy, daughters Teresa, Anne and Mary, sister Kathleen (UK), sister-in-law Maureen, sons-in-law Séan and Michael, daughter-in-law Cathy, grandchildren Riannon, Caelum, Morgan, John and David, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Teresa will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, this evening (Sunday) from 5.30 to 7 p.m.

Funeral cortége will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Monday at 11 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m.

Teresa will be laid to rest afterwards in Ballyheane Cemetery (via Castle Street, Castlebar).
