Health insurance premiums set to rise for more than 600,000 customers
Health insurance premiums are set to rise for 600,000 customers.
Irish Life Health is increasing prices on 130 of its plans, while Laya is pushing up costs on 13 schemes. Premiums are rising on 11 separate VHI plans.
New health insurance company Level Health is not increasing its prices but will remove some of its discounts.
The rises come on top of private health insurance costs climbing by an average of 11 per cent in 2024.
A report from the Health Insurance Authority published in November found the average policy premium is now €1,712, although it said many policyholders could make savings by shopping around.
It noted that despite the price hikes, the health insurance market continues to grow, with 2.51 million people now covered.
