Rebuild plans for Mayo pub approved

PLANS to rebuild Duffy's pub in Kilkelly have received the green light.

Shocked residents in the town woke to a nightmare back in October 2023 when the pub premises collapsed at around 9 a.m.

Now, plans to construct a new bar and three apartments at the town centre site have been approved by Mayo County Council.

At the time of the collapse, the premises also offered guesthouse accommodation.

Kevin and James Duffy have received the go-ahead to demolish the remainder of the existing building and for the construction of a new bar and lounge area with outdoor space at ground level at Market Place, Kilkelly. Three apartments are also included in the planned development.

Duffy's has been a proud establishment in the town, having been there for 120 years.
