Special meeting to fill vacant Mayo council seat

MAYO'S newest councillor is set to be ratified at a special meeting of Mayo County Council this week.

The vacancy on the council was created by the election of Aontú Councillor Paul Lawless to Dáil Éireann.

The party has selected the new TD's sister, Deirdre, as his replacement on the council.

The special meeting to fill the vacancy will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) morning and it will be held online.

Only a person nominated by Aontú is eligible to fill the vacant seat.
