Castlebar Community First Responders recruiting

ARE you passionate about making a difference in your community?

Castlebar Community First Responders are looking for dedicated volunteers to join their group.

The first responders' mission is to provide immediate support and assistance in times of need, ensuring the safety and well-being of family and friends and neighbours.

They respond to medical emergencies in the Castlebar area, such as cardiac arrest, chest pain, stroke and choking.

So, who do they need? Individuals of all skill levels are welcome!

No prior experience is necessary; training will be provided. A commitment to community service and a willingness to help others is what it takes.

Your role is to help stabilise the patient and provide the appropriate care, including CPR and defibrillation, until the more highly skilled ambulance crew arrives on scene to take over the treatment.

CFR groups who are linked to the National Ambulance Service - NAS National Emergency Operations Centre are alerted to an emergency in their area and as they are community based, can provide medical assistance within minutes of a 112/999 call being received.

Castlebar Community First Responders are holding an open evening on January 29 at 7 p.m. (venue TBC). All are welcome to come along and meet the responders.
