Mayo student feted for academic excellence

Castlebar’s Sorcha Patten has been recognised for her outstanding academic achievements with an Excellence Scholarship from the University of Galway.

The award, presented by Interim Deputy President Professor Becky Whay, acknowledges Sorcha’s exceptional performance in the 2024 Leaving Certificate.

A former student of St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar, Sorcha is now pursuing a degree in Gaeilge agus Léann an Aistriúcháin at the university.
