Death of 'talented and inspirational' Mayo woman Elaine Hynes

The community of Castlebar is mourning the death of Elaine Hynes (née Coy), Setanta, Newport Road, Castlebar, and late of Lynn, Boston, Massachusetts.

Many fond tributes are being paid on social media to the deceased, who was held in high regard in the county town.

She was a member of Mulranny Gift of Hands, a social enterprise which upcycles materials to make craft items, for many years.

A tribute to her by the organisation stated: "Elaine was an inspiration to us in Gift of Hands, so talented."

Other tributes described her as having 'a gorgeous nature and kindness' and a person 'who always wore a sweet, perfect smile.'

She is deeply regretted by her loving family: Susy, Noelaine, Johnny, Dermot and Emilene, mother Emily Boudreaux (Boston, MA), adored grandchildren Eamonn Jr. and Aizen, brothers and sisters Mary, Joey, Gary, Gael, Gracie, Gloria and Anette, son-in-law Eamonn, Johnny’s partner Grace, brother-in-law Alan Hynes and his wife Margaret, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom heartfelt sympathy is tendered.

Elaine was predeceased by her husband Dr. Noel, father Ernie, brothers Norman and Arthur and her mother’s partner Al Boudreaux .

Elaine will repose at Coady’s Funeral home, Castlebar, on Friday from 5.30 to 7 p.m.

Funeral cortége will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Saturday at 10.45 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m.

Elaine will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
